Lavender Cocktails

Lavender is a hot ingredient in the cocktail scene for at least the last 05 years. The aromatic herb is the star in tons of different cocktails, all of which are surprisingly delicious. Lavender, a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae), adds a subtle floral note that balances well with sweeteners (honey), citrus, and even bitter flavors.

The herb is a refreshing ingredient, perfect for spring and summer drinks, and tastes excellent with recipes based on vodka, gin, champagne, or even lemonade.

I choose three recipes for you to enjoy, which always makes me ask for more. But before we start to make drinks, I'll let you know how to prepare a Lavender Simple Syrup, we're going to need it. Cheers!

Lavander Simple Syrup

  • A small handful of freshly picked and rinsed lavender flowers or a tablespoon of dried lavender flowers
  • 01 cup white, granulated sugar
  • 02 cups of boiling water for the infusion
  • A few drops of purple or violet food coloring (optional)

How to make it
Cut the lavender flowers from the stems and place them in a medium bowl. Pour the sugar over the flowers, and gently rub them into the sugar.

Pour 2 cups of boiling water and the food coloring over the lavender sugar and stir with a spoon until the sugar has melted. Cover and let infuse for at least 30 minutes to several hours.

Strain it; the lavender-infused simple syrup is ready to use.
